65th LRS fire truck maintainers get P-23 running again

A P-23 aircraft rescue firefighting vehicle before the 65th Civil Engineer Squadron Fire Department here March 11, Lajes Field, Azores. 65th Logistics Readiness Squadron fire truck maintenance technicians replaced the engine in the P-23 after the previous engine failed. Fire truck maintainers from the 65th LRS service nine Lajes Field fire trucks enabling 65th CES fire department responses to both military and civilian aircraft fires and on-base emergencies. 65th LRS fire truck maintainers on the job

Senior Airman Justin Jarschke and Ricardo Silva, 65th Logistics Readiness Squadron fire truck maintenance technicians, replace a radiator fan clutch on the engine of a P-23 aircraft rescue firefighting vehicle here Feb. 4, Lajes Field, Azores. The P-23, assigned to the 65th Civil Engineer Squadron fire department, had a new engine installed after the truck’s 23-year-old engine failed. The P-23 holds 3,300 gallons of water and 100 gallons of firefighting foam agent and is a vital Lajes Field firefighting asset that helps firefighters respond to military and commercial aircraft fires or on-base emergencies.
