Military and Family Life Consultant & Child and Youth Behavioral MLFC

DSN: 535 3529
Cell: 967-435-590

Military and Family Life Counselors offer services through the Airmen and Family Readiness Flight. The MFLC provides short-term, solution-oriented consultations to individuals, couples, families, and groups.

MFLC services are not intended for individuals with chronic, complex or severe issues such as depression, suicidal ideation, substance abuse, domestic violence, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or adjustment difficulties that significantly impair functioning. Military members identified with these mental health issues should be referred to their servicing Military Treatment Facility for treatment.

The MFLC Program is designed to provide free support and assistance to active duty members, federally activated National Guard & Reserves, military Family Members and members of the Civilian Expeditionary Workforce (CEW). MFLCs can help people who are having trouble coping with concerns and issues of daily life. They are licensed counselors whose services are designed to provide access to counseling outside the context of the medical system (mental health clinic or primary care). MFLCs must report in cases of child or domestic abuse and situations that meet duty-to-warn criteria (the individual is at risk for harming themselves or others). Otherwise, services are confidential and there is no documentation in the individual's medical record. MFLCs can see individuals for a wide range of issues, including those noted below. However, if an individual presents with a diagnosable mental health condition, the MFLC is required to refer them to the mental health clinic, or other agency such as primary care or off-base mental health services. Some examples of issues that are appropriately addressed by the MFLC Include:

· Adjustment & Transition
· Stress
· Marital & Couples
· Anxiety & Sadness
· Conflict resolution
· Decision making or problem solving
· Deployment Cycle Issues
· Homesickness
· Stressors related to separation from service or relocation
· Building resiliency
· Communication
· Aggression
· Work stressors
· Grief & Loss
· Children's issues or parenting
